snowflake and candle: cattle wax

We're not sure what cattle wax is, but there's much lowing on these tracks and even the occasional use of bellows.
say you love me: love signs

say you love me issues love signs just in time for Valentine's. There's nothing more romantic than a fantastic marketing ploy.

From South Padre Island, the hotel lobby band that made "snatch a twinkie" famous, doublecross Buddha, has found the time to produce this tribute to Gary Snyder.
Please note: Other explanations for this album were not forthcoming, and we are not sure that this explanation means much.

unindustry
Moved out to the country to get away from you,
But you always show up, like Iago, like Javert,
To terminate the new, and ruined and running,
Called myself Jonah, but the name Ishmael will do

sympathetic vomit
sympathetic vomit puked this album up in three weeks, but its title is still in dispute: sick, slipping in sick, or swine flu? Buy their single "slipping in sick" online, and you can cast your vote for the title.

rename the king

Unable to invent music, rename the king decided nonetheless to invent music. Neverthless, slightly paranoid lead singer Trevor Tilch prefers to focus on the history of the band as a tribute band, but his fellow band members want to break out of their tribute band status and refuse to cover tunes already performed.
In mock defiance, Trevor ad libbed all of his lyrics at a recent performance, but it turned out that he performed his role no worse than usual, which lead bassist Steve Unser to say, "We're a tribute band that doesn't pay tribute."
That ad lib is captured here.
Yes, the tunes on this album ooze with the senseless tensions of rename the king.

pig face damnation

How pig face damnation came to be is an astounding story in itself. Critics have labelled it an Insane Clown Posse ripoff, but the dynamic of pig face damnation is of a different order than that of Insane Clown Posse. Indeed, pig face damnation actually set out to write music for topless bars and issued "sit and spin" ten years ago when it was known as Hot Silver, when critics called it a Motley Crue ripoff.
The idea for pig face damnation came after drummer Kit Larsen quit Hot Silver to open a midnight volleyball/mosh pit lake club in Austin. Grubber Thompson and Pete Tinsel, the two remaining Hot Silver members, recruited a drummer and bass player after spending a month in the Grand Canyon trying out their chants. With the formula for a "chant band rather then a yell 'naked' band," Grubber and Pete put together pig face damnation within a half year after Hot Silver disbanded.
As to the name, "pig face damnation," Grubber credits a visit to the Video Bar in Deep Ellum in the 1980s, where he saw Leatherface enacting his chainsaw chase on the big screens (the one Grubber remembers was above the downstairs dance floor) to his fascination with meat masks. Grubber was six at the time he visited the Video Bar, and his tales of Deep Ellum are worthy of his forthcoming movie, Me and Joe Bob Briggs, where Grubber narrates his "horror movie youth" in detail.
But "pig face" itself, as Grubber tells it, relates to the masks worn by certain Washington Redskin fans. To this inteviewer's satisfaction, Grubber could not quite relate "pig face" to Leatherface, but perhaps the masks worn by Leatherface and Washington Redskin fans they are all part of the "meat mask" fascination Grubber spoke of.
Check out "My Bloody Valentine" and "Redder and Redder." As the chant goes on "Axe Battle," "It's all grunts and squeals and the thrill of surviving a spin on Ixion's Wheel."

emergency nowhere

emergency nowhere is out to take you for a ride. Indeed, with a list of seventy-eight titles, this album from emergency nowhere (current title pending) wants to take you on many a ride. Sometimes, though, the rides are brief and unfulfilling (a couple of the eight second tunes work), and sometimes the rides last a little too long ("garbage disposal banjo" almost works). Whatever the case, after you've heard, "chasing it," you'll know you've been there, been to that particular nowhere. First, however, get your prescription filled--take a listen to "un": "laughter, I'm choking, and never stop knowing, an accidental morgue."

black ice pie

It's the dessert you can't see. It's licorice ice cream in coffee. It's the listen that treats you to unexpected surprise. That's right, by using code compilations, these tunes morph before your ears. A multitudinous cacophony symphonic, you won't hear the same tune more than once in a hundred listens. Listen again and again. It's OK. It's not the same song over and over. It's over and over a song.
1) hit the brakes and burn rubber
2) cerberus by another name

10) clock raw
11) spoon jam

crunchy heart apple: healer

crunchy heart apple returns with their cruelest album cover image yet: a bird devouring the worm in your heart. Yes, healeris all about the pain of realizing the disease and eradicating it with the help of pigeons, canaries, or any bird you can find at your local pet store. Any bird capable of flight, that is.
Mr. Butterscotch, formely Birdie, will guide you down the path to health with such tunes as "bird bath cleansing," "public fountain freedom," and "naked joy." But don't forget "high up in the clouds" and "birds can help you."
And these tunes are just helf the album. The other half is your "flight to freedom" where you will learn your cleansing "coo." So, chirp along.

Yes, you will thrill to hear Christmas tunes done by Elvis redone by Famous Album Cover artists. Just consider it the musical equivalent of Jim Carrey portraying Andy Kaufman. It's all about sytle.

The X Rays

After a brief study of Edmund Husserl, Jeremy Polk decided to ponder the proverb, "Beauty is only skin deep." He concluded: "Beauty is always only surface, even if that surface is an index."
None of his friends was sure what he meant, but his friends were happy to join his band, The X Rays. They were not, however, sure what Jeremy was doing when he brought brought a children's sandbox, sand included, to the recording garage along with handbells, steel hammers, mallets, wire, BBs, and lots of variously sized glass bottles and spoons, but his friends played along and were happy to produce this album, mostly.
Among its many surpises, the tunes on this album feature the musky-husky of Trixy Tam Tam, best known for her pop hit, "Baby." Trixy does an "O Baby" that out-Barries Barry White. If her voice turns you on, you will get a charge out of "Ingredients," a tune where she reads labels.
Check it out. "Day and Night" will Alaska for you.

green rustic

Like the hee-haw twang of Country and Western, but want more twang and less homegrown in your lyrics? Here it is: green rustic, a band full of piss and vinegar that offers you a shot glass full of sin.
