green mountain blues

  1. Oh wow! However did you score this album? It was put out in 1981 by “Dread Dog Records” in Natchez, Mississippi. Crazy ex-pat Jamaican ran the place, was real big on Delta Blues. The recording studio was on South Union Street just down from the St. Mary Basilica. I mean, do you have this album? It be gold, man! The last live recording of Jimmy “One Eye” Podborski. It was recorded on March 11, 1981 at the “Droolin’ Gambler Bar and Cracklins Pit” over in Vidalia. Of course, you know about Jimmy getting his ass shot off at the show which was why it was the last live recording he cut. Sigh, ol’ One Eye was just that, one eye for the ladies and nothing else. Hit on some guy’s gal while playing on the stage, got hisself shot clean off. Too bad, wicked slide player.

Dread Dog only released a hundred copies before the courts banned the further sale and entered the master tape as Defense evidence. Ol’ Jimmy could be a rude dude and he pretty much heckled the shit out of the boyfriend while hitting on the guy’s lady. The shooter plead momentary insanity caused by extreme rage. Got off, too.

Dread Dog lasted a couple of years after that which was a shame, they released some fine sides. I blame the owner. He was always the art director on the album covers and he couldn’t design his way out of a wet paper bag. They all stunk! I mean, look at “Green Mountain Blues”. That is a lame cover man.
